spring cleaning book tag + announcement

beannachdan! ('salutations' in scottish gaelic

The summers were brutal and pounding down on us while Jefferson the cow mooed. Through the heat and the dried up grass and the laughter across the street, we heard the most heartfelt moo ever.

Oh, and I also got tagged by Aditi @ One in a Million — thanks!

I can’t wait to share my bookish love in this post. Jefferson approves.spring cleaning

A few things to say first off:

1) I feel like it’s been forever since I’ve done one of these posts.. I’m currently trying to write a song for a book I’m reading, and ok, it’s, well, incredibly trashy, but that’s what we do here.

2) We have spring break this week (yay) and I’ve been spending it on a lot of creative projects.. it’s been great. But then I have school in a few days T-T
I’m currently working on a post that will be published on Tuesday, so it’s something you guys can look forward too.

3) Also, if you guys have ever tagged me for anything, let me know and I’ll do it for sure. I may be one of the busiest people through space and time busy like every other individual, but I’ll always make time for this :))

4) Something strange is that their seems to be 2 versions of this post, the original questions over here. I’m going to go ahead and do the first version, for kicks. I know I was tagged for 2.0, but this was seems pretty fun.

The only rules for this tag are…

  • link back to daniel @ page by page
  • respond to the scenarios
  • tag 5 people

On with the post!

Yoon_9780553496680_jkt_all_r1.inddOoh, okay, I just had friends over today, and I totally admit to freaking out about my room before they arrived.

I usually keep my t.b.r. or current books in my little, red, book wagon for all to see, and I alwaysalwaysalways make sure that the books make pretty spine art– not only for others but myself, because it’s a little quirk of mine.

Otherwise, I would choose The Sun is Also a Star,  by Nicola Yoon for a few reasons. First off, I got this as a gift from my beloved cousins, so it’s a hardback.

Hardbacks scream “professional” and “organized”, guys. Not saying paperbacks don’t, but you can never go wrong with a hardback to display. Next off, the cover art is colorful + textured.

It also looks like those intimidating YA novels that are super thought-provoking, earning myself bonus points with friends + family. Yay!

Hmm, this one actually isn’t really me. Homework? I’d choose a story any day (I know, I’m mean to my future self but I don’t care). But I cannot stand an unclean work area/living space. It’s impossible! But for the sake of this question, I shall go along..

I’ve actually really wanted to start getting into audiobooks lately. You know me, I crave media like I crave chocolate.

There are actually quite a few I want to listen to, so I can have one ready for whenever I want to clean the house. Ahem:

1) Illuminae (a full cast and sound effects?? sign me up, please)
2) Anything by Maggie Stiefvater (self-explanatory)
3) The Gentleman’s Guide to Vice and Virtue (so apparently the narrator was Tom Riddle)
4) Aristotle and Dante Discover the Secrets of the Universe (1 name. Lin-Manuel Miranda)
5) The Foxhole Court (dude, I heard that there were Scottish accents and I dropped everything. I love anything Scottish)

That’s it! -proceeds to continue reading about blue lights and death-

Duck and cover, guys!
Is it over? -peeks-
We’re good!

I mean, mass-market or not, I would  could never do that to my precious cargo. I’d rather be soaked up by water from head to toe. But if it spread to different rooms, I would risk ruining everything, so I would just use my school workbooks.

But seriously, I would nevereverever use any of my books like that! They hold enormous sentimental value to me, and each holds a memory from the past.

Overall, out of the question.

Ooh, I love the “2007 Cosmos” part. Sounds like the name of a super outdated model of a quidditch broomstick. First of all, I wouldn’t really do this either (oh, dear, that’s all of the questions so far) cuz’ my books deserve to be protected.

However, boredom, as Leo Tolstoy once said, equals the desires of desires. I mean, there really is a book for every occasion!skellig

Hmm, I would definitely choose a quicker read. I don’t own many books, but out of the lot, I would choose this one.

Skellig  is a super sweet book that may or may tear you up.
An irritable angel who loves Chinese takeout? Check.
A wise girl next door who DOES NOT fall in love with the boy?  Check.
The m.c.’s love and concern for his baby sister is amazing. AND THE MYTH.

P.S. Didja know that Maggie Stiefvater rated it 5 stars on Goodreads?

This question is super creative; I love it. So obviously, I’m not going to take it literally, or, “Oh no! I would never do anything of the sort to my babies!” I’m going to take it as a “Ooh, I devoured this book; but the ending truly sucks!”

I actually have so many I can list off, but the first two that come to mind are these.

The ending of The War Outside was very disappointing, to be blunt. I understand that, well, things don’t always work out perfectly in the end and a happy ending is not always possible, but this book got up to my face about it! Also, the mc’s, Margot and Haruko, made awful choices that were so unlike them. Arrgh.

And don’t even get me started on Inheritance. I love this series to the ends of Alagaesia, but the ending made me quite upset! The entire premise to which the cycle was building up to, in the 3 massive novels that I had to lug around in my backpack, was just brushed over. The final battle was so quick, like the author was limited to a certain amount of words (makes sense because it’s kinda unnecessarily long) and we were left with a major cliffhanger, waiting for the next book.

Ha, more like 8 YEARS.

Sorry for the rants, guys. But actually? This would make quite a delicious casserole.

WOW. So, I do super dumb stuff sometimes, a.k.a. all the time, and I only buy books that I’ve read before. You know, the YA novels that take me forever to read and I’ll probably only read them once a blue moon? Those.

That being said, I would like a few.

Buuuut, none of them are YA’s.
I’m actually going to this book sale tmr. though it’s unlikely I’ll find any of these books there, sadly.

Ooh, that book’s gonna be useful when planning for the future. Which I may or may not already do as a teenager..

Also, if my aunt did that, I would let her know that she’s not being very discreet.

“If you’re going to be discreet, you might as well do it like a pro.”
— Vaishnavi, 3 seconds ago, est. 2019©

Did I get everything? Oh wait, what was the question again?

Ooh, this is going to be good.

First of all, I would implant a glitter bomb when she opens her package, to show my affection for my dear aunt.

Book-wise, this is perfect because this dystopian freaks a lot of people out. There are “gruesome” scenes and unpleasant characters.. if you know what I mean.

This is The Chosen One -claps gleefully-

Let’s hope my aunt finds it scary enough.

Those are all of the questions!

Ooh, I got some new books to add to my list from this! Your recommendations are always great.
And “It also looks like those intimidating YA novels that are super thought-provoking, earning myself bonus points with friends + family. Yay!” actually made me laugh out loud. Also “I may be one of the busiest people through space and time busy like every other individual” is me. 🤣
And YESS girl, Inheritance was so frustrating!! I loved Eragon, but that last book just let everyone down. And he hasn’t even published the next one yet! Last year he confirmed he was going to (https://www.paolini.net/2018/09/18/qas-book-5-future-stories-movie-reboots/) but nobody’s heard anything else since then. Ugh.
Anyway, wonderful post! Thanks for the entertainment and recommendations!

Yea, I love throwing in a Doctor Who reference. Uurgh, why does Paolini have to be so darn cryptic?? Eragon was amazing, but in Inheritance, it seemed like he was trying to, I guess, impress everyone with big words. But Brisingr has to be my favourite of alllll time.
Also, there’s no doubt that Eragon’s character arc is like a perfect rainbow. So I also found it super frustrating that he was still pining after Arya. Well, I guess that’s where we turn to fanfiction..
Glad you liked the post 😆

Ooh I’ve been meaning to check out The Sun Is Also A Star, I must get round to it! Haha I completely agree with you on the hardbacks over paperbacks, I feel so much more organised with a hardback like you said. It’s a shame the ending to The War Outuside wasn’t great, I was wondering whether to read it but might give it a miss! Great post!

Lol, I didn’t realize that there’s two versions! Maybe I should do the original..?
But actually, it was Jefferson the CAT not the cow (the cats: Calico, Jefferson AKA Jeffy, Sugarcane, Greystone, Midnight, Twilight, Starbright) – but actually I kinda like Jefferson the cow. You have a point there…

Ahh what a fun tag, I loved your answers! I personally am a fan of paperbacks, but I can appreciate a great hardback too ahah they just look so good! 🙂 and Illuminae, oh!, I don’t read audiobooks, but I’d LOVE to experience that one on audio, it has to be quite an experience 🙂
thank you for tagging me! 🙂

aww, you’re so sweet! paperbacks definitely are easier to carry around, and they’re super comfortable, but having a hardback around makes me feel like a professional- a professional what, I don’t know 🙂
and yesss, I need to read “illuminae” once more. glad you liked the tag!

  5. The Truth says:

    Hey, how’s it going?

I want to pass along some very important news that everyone needs to hear!

In December of 2017, Donald Trump made history by recognizing Jerusalem as the capital of Israel. Why is this big news? Because by this the Jewish people of Israel are now able to press forward in bringing about the Third Temple prophesied in the Bible.

Jewish Rabbis have publicly announced that their Messiah will be revealed in the coming years who will be a leader and spiritual guide to all nations, gathering all religions under the worship of one God.

Biblical prophecy tells us that this Jewish Messiah who will take the stage will be the antichrist “who opposes and exalts himself above all that is called God or that is worshiped, so that he sits as God in the temple of God, showing himself that he is God” (2 Thessalonians 2:4). For a time he will bring about a false peace, but “Therefore when you see the ‘abomination of desolation,’ spoken of by Daniel the prophet, standing in the holy place (Matthew 24:15)…then there will be great tribulation, such as has not been since the beginning of the world until this time, no, nor ever shall be” (Matthew 24:21).

More importantly, the power that runs the world wants to put a RFID microchip in our body making us total slaves to them. This chip matches perfectly with the Mark of the Beast in the Bible, more specifically in Revelation 13:16-18:

“He causes all, both small and great, rich and poor, free and slave, to receive a mark on their right hand or on their foreheads, and that no one may buy or sell except one who has the mark or the name of the beast, or the number of his name.

Here is wisdom. Let him who has understanding calculate the number of the beast, for it is the number of a man: His number is 666.”

Referring to the last days, this could only be speaking of a cashless society, which we have yet to see, but are heading towards. Otherwise, we could still buy or sell without the mark amongst others if physical money was still currency. This Mark couldn’t be spiritual because the word references two different physical locations. If it was spiritual it would just say in the forehead. RFID microchip implant technology will be the future of a one world cashless society containing digital currency. It will be implanted in the right-hand or the forehead, and we cannot buy or sell without it. Revelation 13:11-18 tells us that a false prophet will arise on the world scene doing miracles before men, deceiving them to receive this Mark. Do not be deceived! We must grow strong in Jesus. AT ALL COSTS, DO NOT TAKE IT!

“Then a third angel followed them, saying with a loud voice, “If anyone worships the beast and his image, and receives his mark on his forehead or on his hand, he himself shall also drink of the wine of the wrath of God, which is poured out full strength into the cup of His indignation. He shall be tormented with fire and brimstone in the presence of the holy angels and in the presence of the Lamb. And the smoke of their torment ascends forever and ever; and they have no rest day or night, who worship the beast and his image, and whoever receives the mark of his name” (Revelation 14:9-11).

People have been saying the end is coming for many years, but we needed two key things. One, the Third Temple, and two, the technology for a cashless society to fulfill the prophecy of the Mark of the Beast.

Visit http://WWW.BIBLEFREEDOM.COM to see proof for these things and why the Bible truly is the word of God!

If you haven’t already, it is time to seek God with all your heart. Jesus loves you more than you could imagine. He wants to have a relationship with you and redeem you from your sins. Turn to Him and repent while there is still hope! This is forever…God bless!

We all know God exists. Why? Because without Him, we couldn’t prove anything at all. Do we live our lives as if we cannot know anything? No. So why is God necessary? In order to know anything for certain, you would have to know everything, or have revelation from somebody who does. Who is capable of knowing everything? God. So to know anything, you would have to be God, or know God.

A worldview without God cannot account for the uniformity and intelligibility of nature. And why is it that we can even reason that God is the best explanation for this if there is no God? We are given reason to know or reject God, but never to know that He does not exist.

It has been calculated by Roger Penrose that the odds of the initial conditions for the big bang to produce the universe that we see to be a number so big, that we could put a zero on every particle in the universe, and even that would not be enough to use every zero. What are the odds that God created the universe? Odds are no such thing. Who of you would gamble your life on one coin flip?

Is there evidence that the Bible is the truth? Yes. Did you know that the creation accounts listed in the book of Genesis are not only all correct, but are also in the correct chronological order? That the Bible doesn’t say the Earth was formed in six 24-hour days but rather six long but finite periods of time? That the Bible makes 10 times more creation claims than all major “holy” books combined with no contradictions, while these other books have errors in them? The Bible stood alone by concurring with the big bang saying, “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth” (Genesis 1:1); and says our universe is expanding, thousands of years before scientists discovered these things. Watch a potential life-changing video on the website listed below with Astronomer(PhD) Hugh Ross explaining all these facts based on published scientific data. He has authored many books, backed even by atheist scientists.

Jesus came to pay a debt that we could not; to be our legal justifier to reconcile us back to a Holy God; only if we are willing to receive Him: “For the wages of sin is death…” (Romans 6:23).

God so loved the world that He gave us His only begotten son, so that whoever believes in Him, through faith, shall not perish, but have everlasting life. Jesus says if we wish to enter into life to keep the commands! The two greatest commands are to love God with all your heart, soul, strength, and mind; and your neighbor as yourself. All the law hang on these commands. We must be born of and lead by the Holy Spirit, to be called children of God, to inherit the kingdom. If we are willing to humble ourselves in prayer to Jesus, to confess and forsake our sins, He is willing to give the Holy Spirit to those who keep asking of Him; giving us a new heart, leading us into all truth!

Jesus came to free us from the bondage of sin. The everlasting fire was prepared for the devil and his angels due to disobedience to God’s law. If we do the same, what makes us any different than the devil? Jesus says unless we repent, we shall perish. For sin is the transgression of the law. We must walk in the Spirit so we may not fulfill the lusts of the flesh, being hatred, fornication, drunkenness and the like. Whoever practices such things will not inherit the kingdom (Galatians 5:16-26). If we sin, we may come before Jesus to ask for forgiveness (1 John 2:1-2). Evil thoughts are not sins, but rather temptations. It is not until these thoughts conceive and give birth by our own desires that they become sin (James 1:12-15). When we sin, we become in the likeness of the devil’s image, for he who sins is of the devil (1 John 3:8); but if we obey Jesus, in the image of God. For without holiness, we shall not see the Lord (Hebrews 12:14).

The oldest religion in the world is holiness through faith (James 1:27). What religion did Adam and Eve follow before the fall? Jesus, Who became the last Adam, what religion does He follow? Is He not holy? He never told us to follow the rituals and traditions of man but to take up our cross and follow Him (Luke 9:23). There are many false doctrines being taught leading people astray. This is why we need the Holy Spirit for discernment. Unlike religion, holiness cannot be created. It is given to us from above by the baptism of the Spirit. Jesus is more than a religion; He is about having a personal relationship with the Father. Start by reading the Gospel of Matthew, to hear the words of God, to know His character and commandments. Follow and obey Jesus, for He is the way, the truth, and the life!
